Two-Headed Yordle was created under Riot Games' "Legal Jibber Jabber" policy using assets owned by Riot Games. Riot Games does not endorse or sponsor this project.
Summary
2HY is similar to Magma Chamber, but differs in that both players per team play at the same time and have control over each other's permanents; they are each one of the heads of a two-headed yordle.
Each player still has all of their own Non-Board Zones (champion, decks, hand etc), but share Board Zones (legend (both player’s legions are in the same zone), base, battlefields) & Rune Pools with their teammate.
Deck Construction
2HY uses standard deck construction rules (including 3 battlefields per player).
Basics
4 Players. 2v2 : 2 opponents each : 1 Teammate.
Victory Score: 11.
Battlefield Count: 2.
Each player provides three (3) Battlefields, included in their deck during deck building.
Format: Best of 1. The first team to reach the Victory Score in Points wins the Match.
Setup
Randomly select 1 out of the 6 battlefields from each team’s battlefields. Team mates should be sitting on the same side of the table. Draw 4 and mulligan two as usual. Each team shares a base. Randomly determine which team goes first, play then cycles back and forth between the teams.
First Turn
One player on the first player team does not draw a card, one player on the second player team channels 3 runes. It is the respective teams’ choice for who doesn’t draw / does channel extra.
Unique Rules
Both players in a team play at the same time. Play continues to the next phase whenever both players complete the current phase.
Individual players are not Controllers themselves; there is 1 Controller per team (the 2HY). Players can make Discretionary Actions and target their team’s permanents as though they were their own. If there is disagreement between what should be done, the owner of the card has final say.
If there is a disagreement about an effect from a card that isn’t owned by either teammate, the player who caused the effect to happen has final say. For example, if Player A captures and triggers a on-capture ability from a Battlefield owned by the other team, Player A decides how to resolve that ability (even if they used Player B’s unit to perform the capture).
Explicit “Controller” or implicitly “You”, "They" in the rules and on cards refers to the card’s or effect’s Controller, in 2HY this is still the case, but the team’s players choose which of them gains the effect, pays the cost, etc.
Example: Player A could discard 1, exhaust Player B’s Unlicensed Armory “Discard 1, exhaust: Choose a friendly unit. The next time it would die this turn, you may pay [R] to heal it, exhaust it, and recall it instead” and choose Player B’s unit. Either Player A or B could later recycle a [R] to recall the unit instead if it would die.
Example: After countering an opponent’s spell with Hard Bargain “Counter a spell unless its controller pays (2).”, either opponent could pay the (2).
Players read “Your” on their team’s cards as though the card was theirs, so Player A could use Player B’s Assembly Rig “(1)[R], Recycle a unit from your trash, exhaust: Play a 3[M] Mech unit token to your base.” on their trash (assuming the costs are paid).
Players can still be targeted individually, e.g. “choose a player, they discard 1” would make the chosen player discard 1.
"An opponent" is a player on the opposing team.
“Each player” still applies to each player, e.g. “each player kills one of their units” would make each player choose a unit on their team (choice not limited to units they own)
Players may Hide cards at Battlefields controlled by their Team.
Players may issue Standard Movement to their Team's Units.
Friendly describes controlled Game Objects by the player's Team. Example: "When I am played, ready a friendly unit" could target a player's own Units or their teammate's Units.
Hands are Private Information.
Players may show their Private Information to one or more players at any time during play, including their teammate.
Revealing Cards is still a game action and cannot be done unless instructed.
Teammates may not utilize the same Champion Legend.
Teammates may not utilize the same Battlefields.
Scoring is adjusted
Players score as a team, points awarded to a player for holding, conquering or abilities are added to the team's Victory Score, but otherwise scoring is essentially the same as 1v1
