Riftbound @ d20
Welcome!
If you’re looking for information related to Riftbound then you’re in the right place. Below you’ll find everything you need to help you get involved with the Riftbound community at d20. From rules, contact details, events, and even custom Modes of Play, everything’s right here for your convenience.
Starter Pacts
Building good decks requires staple cards from previous hard to find sets. Thats why d20 are giving away Starter Pacts to new players.
Choose a two-colour combo and receive a free pack with a Legend and 40-ish cards of those colour, as well as some tokens and a few battlefields.
On return visits, pick up your next pact, and after collecting all 3, you’ll have 1-3 of nearly every common card of your colours from Origins, Spiritforged and Unleashed.
Events
Looking for what to expect at our various Riftbound Events? check out the sections below.
Most of our events are on Monday nights starting 6pm and usually run until 9:30pm. We serve a great selection of food and drinks (including Alcohol) and our kitchen is open until 10:00pm.
Unless noted otherwise, these are “Constructed” events – meaning you bring your own deck of Riftbound cards to play with. Currently, distributor’s supply lines are limiting our ability to run more regular sealed events (where you open and play from booster packs). We do have some trail / spare decks you can borrow, except for the Monthly Tournament and Summoner Skirmish where your own deck is required.
Check out what’s coming up on our booking system. Our events are in high demand with limited space, so prebooking is the best way to avoid disappointment.
Nexus Nights
Nexus Nights at d20 are fun, friendly 1v1 tournaments of 3 Swiss rounds of best of 3. They’re a great place to test out your deck in a tournament setup, practice for higher tier tournaments (like d20’s monthly 1v1 tournament), and meet new people.
Participation rewards & Prizes are the Nexus Night Promo Packs. They will be from the latest set, potentially with some extra packs from older sets thrown in while stocks last.
Monthly Tournament
Test your mettle in d20’s monthly 1v1 tournament: 3 to 4 Swiss rounds of best of 3. These are low OPL so the emphasis is still on fun & community, and it’s a great place for beginners to level up in a more serious tournament setting.
Participation rewards & Prizes are Booster Packs from the current set (subject to availability).
Casual Nights
Whether it’s 1v1 duals, team 2v2, 3 or 4 player free for alls, or d20’s very own co-op Lane Legends (see below), d20’s casual night is the event to test out new deck ideas, have fun and meet new players.
Pre-Rifts
In the week leading up to a new set being released, d20 runs a pre-rift; your chance to get your hands on cards from the new set early. These run similar to a Nexus Night, but instead of your own deck, you’ll receive a pre-rift kit: a new random legend and matching champion unit, a bunch of cards specific for your legend and 5 booster packs from which to make a 25 card deck.
You’ll walk away with your pre-rift kit plus some extra booster packs from the new set.
These are a lot of fun and a great place for new players to jump straight into Riftbound as everyone is on a level playing field. They are also our most popular events, so make sure you book in advance.
Summoner Skirmishes
A month after release of a new set, and a month before the next one, Riot / UVS Games support us to run Summon Skirmishes. These are on the weekend because they run for much longer (expect a whole day of Riftbound goodness!). These are Competitive OPL tournaments with unique promo prizes and the height of local competitive play. These are not beginner friendly as matches are under strict time restraints and a high skill / knowledge of the game is expected.
Space is limited, and booking is opened a month in advance.
Learn to Play
If you’re thinking of getting into Riftbound, there isn’t a better event then a Learn to Play, where our registered Judge will teach you the rules and step you through your first few games. We have a bunch of trail decks for you to borrow if you haven’t yet made the plunge in buying your own cards.
Official Rules
The official rules are available at Riot Games’ Rules Hub.
We track changes in our GitHub Repo and you can find plain text (easier to search) of the latest version of the core rules here.
Community Made Modes Of Play
Here are some different ways to play Riftbound:
Lane Legends by d20’s Jim
Co-operative mode for any number of players (including single player) where each player must secure the 3 Battlefields in their Lane to score points. You’re playing against your own Deck as a card is “Enthralled” and taken from you each turn. Available Here.
Two Headed Yordle also by Jim
A variant to the normal 2v2 Magma Chamber. You and your teammate are each a head of a Two Headed Yordle (2HY), as such you play at the same time, and as the same controller, can utilise each other’s Units & Gear. Available Here.
Besieged by OfficerCrayon
Horde Defence mode where you must stop the ever growing Might of a bot army. Available on Reddit.
Contest of Champions by OfficerCrayon
Removes the Legend, but opens the door to some crazy card combos. You can include any colour in your deck as long as it doesn’t have a power cost different from your Chosen Champion. (same reddit link as above).
Community
A wide range of people come to d20 to play Riftbound on a weekly basis, come and get to know them and chat about the game in our dedicated Riftbound channel on our Discord.
d20’s co-owner, director and Game Developer, Jim, is your Event Organiser (EO) and Judge. He mains Lee Sin at the moment, and isn’t allowed to play in the Summoner Skimishes because getting matched against him is unfair as it is an easy win.
